Seduction of the Muse - Memory

She came drifting across the asphalt,
Earphones related sweet music and trance.

I spoke to her in a flurry of excuses,
Because I did not know she was somewhere else.
I missed her at my door, I feared a woman scorned,
Because I did not know she was somewhere else.

After walking in silence for several minutes,
I, pinned and wriggling on Prufrock's wall,
She pulled out her earphones,
Said - 'Sorry - I just had to hear that.'

She turned to face me,
I saw seraphim in the glorious mid-day sun,
As her flower-petal eyes,
Revealed all these fears,
To be the function of vanity.
